A new wireless monitor introduced by one California-based firm can be equipped with up to five sensors.
RAE Systems' AreaRAE Inert may be fitted with a photo ionisation detector, a lower explosive limit sensor, a solid polymer electrolyte oxygen sensor and two extra toxic gas sensors, depending on the needs of the application or site in which it is used.
Company vice-president of marketing Bill Jackson said that the business has been successful in expanding its wireless monitor family.
"Wireless options provide more cost-effective and sustainable means to ensure safety in industrial, energy, environmental and government safety markets worldwide," he stated.
Bobby Sheikhan, wireless products manager, added that the new monitor's built-in pump means that it can remain in radio contact with the breathing air services and safety managers and still be outside of the work area.
In related news, RAE Systems recently announced that it has been shortlisted in the Best Explosives, Metal/Hazmat Detection category of the Homeland Security Awards.
