Cree has launched a new LED lightbulb which it claims has the highest illumination output in the industry.
The A-lamp product is capable of producing 969 lumens at 102 lumens per watt, which is the same as the light from a 65-watt incandescent bulb produced using just 9.5 watts.
Demonstrated by Chuck Swoboda, chairman and chief executive officer of Cree, the A-19-style bulb features a patented method of delivering warm light with superior efficiency.
Mr Swoboda said that new applications become available "with every improvement in LED components".
"We are excited to show the world not only what can be done, but what they should expect in an LED lightbulb," he added.
Third-party testing was used to verify all data in the demonstration, which took place under steady-state operating conditions.
Cree claims that it is "leading the LED lighting revolution" and develops everything from blue and green chips to high-brightness products and power-switching devices.
