Silicon has announced the launch of a new range of highly-accurate light sensor devices.
According to the company, its QuickSense family of products includes the Si11xx range of proximity and ambient light sensors, which use a patented single-pulse proximity measurement technique to reduce system power.
As a result, it is hoped that the devices will help to eliminate challenges such as improving customer experience and higher levels of software complexity.
The light sensors also offer extended use under a wide range of conditions, which means that consumers are able to use lower cost or profile LEDs.
Mark Thompson, vice-president and general manager of Silicon Laboratories, said that the company has a "long track record of tackling formidable analog challenges and applying innovative mixed-signal design techniques to deliver integrated, high-performance and lower power solutions that are easy to use".
Beth Torrey, event director of the Sensors Expo & Conference, recently stated that the increasing proliferation of applications means that the market for sensor devices is continuing to grow and develop.
