It has been announced that 3M will use OSRAM Opto Semiconductors' LEDs in its new micro projectors.
The energy-saving diodes mean that micro-projection display sizes of more than a metre are now possible and could be vital for the development of micro projectors.
A light source has been specially adapted by OSRAM Opto Semiconductors which means that 3M's new MPRO120MPRO120 PocketProjector can allow users to view videos or photos by projecting them on to a wall.
Furthermore, over ten lumens per watt can be produced by the projector when 3M's Light Engine is coordinated with OSRAM Opto Semiconductors' LED.
Wolfgang Schnabel, marketing manager at OSRAM, said: "The LED's low energy consumption also conserves the projector's battery and, therefore, ensures longer operating times - the crucial aspect for mobile applications."
In related news, Albeo Technologies has just announced the launch of a new range of LED light fixtures designed for use in tough environments.
