Two companies joined forces at the 2009 LED Lighting Fixture Promotion Conference in China last week, in order to show off the benefits of the product.
American firm Cree - which manufactures the LED lamp - and Chinese enterprise Ningbo Liaoyuan Lighting Co combined to exhibit the XLamp LED XP-G, which also allowed the latter business to create a street-lamp system efficacy of 98.3 lumens per Watt in a 150 W product.
Lin Zhengang, engineer of the Guangzhou Streetlamp Management Office, predicted that such products will be widely-used due to the emphasis being placed on energy-efficiency and clean technology by the government.
He explained: "Energy-saving products are becoming increasingly popular in the current economy.
"The LED street lamps we installed help us better meet our energy-efficiency and environmental protection goals."
Liaoyuan Lighting also exhibited a 300W street using the same LED product.
This week, Larson electronics announced the launch of the LED10W-4RT-F 40 watt spreader light, designed to be used on boats and other vehicles and equipment.
