Philips has been given a design award for an LED product made in the shape of a candle, the company has announced.
The Philip's LED candle was given the silver HKDA Asia Design Award 09 by the Hong Kong Designers Association at a recent ceremony.
The product has a streamlined style with a bright and sparkling light effect that is presented in the shape of a candle, which is made for chandeliers and other similar light holders.
Sean Hughes, senior design director at the company's Hong Kong branch, explained that people can easily replace old lamps with this energy-efficient substitute, which he suggested can personalise a room in a sustainable way.
He said: "We are proud to receive the silver award as recognition of our design capabilities towards LED lighting solutions."
A recent report by German research team Osram showed that LED bulbs are much more efficient over the lifetime of the product than incandescent lamps.
