LedEngin has announced the launch of a range of dimmable LED lamps which can be darkened to one per cent light levels.
The LuxPAR series of bulbs will be offered in a variety of different colour temperatures, in either spot, narrow flood or flood beam distributions.
While the PAR38 model is available now, the PAR20 and PAR30 products will not be released globally until the first quarter of 2010.
LedEngin claimed that the PAR38 is the first "truly dimmable" LED lamp, with the company's proprietary LEDs and optical designs delivering light quality, longevity and high lux.
David Tahmassebi, chief executive officer of the organisation, described the products as an ideal replacement for dimmable halogen and metal halide lamps.
He explained that the new range "satisfies pent-up market demand for LED PAR lamps that deliver Lux on Target with superior levels of light quality, visual comfort, colour rendering and energy efficiency".
This week, Instrument Systems released a set of calibration LEDs, which have been designed for optical instruments.
