Opto Diode Corp has announced the release of a high-output blue LED, which the company claimed is easy to install.
The OD-469L is hermetically sealed in a TO-5 can with three leads extending from the back, with a dominant emission wavelength from 465 to 475 nm that typically operates at 470 nm.
At 25 degrees C, the power output delivered ranges from 80 to around 170 mW, although its maximum rating at this temperature is 1000-mW power dissipation (infinite heatsink).
Opto Diode Corp explained: "Featuring a narrow beam angle, they are suitable for fluorescence applications in medicine, scientific testing instruments and forensics."
The product can be operated at temperatures of between -55 and 100 degrees C, with a maximum junction temperature of 125 degrees C.
This week, LedEngin launched the PAR38 LED lamp range, which it claimed is the first "truly dimmable" lamp that can be used as a replacement for halogen and metal halide bulbs.
