The Long-Range ParCon is a new analogue optical line sensor from Baumer.
Able to detect small, fast-moving objects, the sensor has been produced as an alternative to light curtain technology and projects a continuous beam of parallel light to a reflector.
This 24 mm beam allows the device to detect objects as small as 0.5 mm and at high-speed processing rates up to 1 kHz, irrespective of their position within the sensing field.
According to Baumer, the sensor is designed for use in industries such as textile manufacturing, packaging, paper production and printing/graphics.
It can be mounted quickly into small-space applications and just needs a reflector to become operational.
Other new products unveiled by Baumer this year include the photoelectric sensors designed for mounting on a standpipe or tube using a cable tie.
It has also produced Series IWFM 08, a new collection of inductive sensors designed for tiny spaces, as they measure just 4.7 x 8 x 16 mm.
