Vishay has unveiled a new solid capacitor product, which it claimed offers improved damp heat performance and maximum temperature rating.
The manufacturer announced the release of the 94SVPD series, which uses conductive polymer technology for high ripple currents and high voltages.
Some of the devices that it can be used for are smoothing, buffering, voltage decoupling in vehicle-mounted engine control and filtering applications.
It has a maximum temperature rating of +125 degrees C and higher voltage ratings to 35 V, while the capacitor offers damp heat (steady state) performance at +85 degrees C at 85 to 95 per cent RH for 1,000 hours at rated voltage.
The solid-electrolyte product has a high-rated ripple current to 3.8 A at 100 kHz and +105 degrees C.
It also features low ESR down to 28 mohm at 100 kHz.
Last week, scientists at Stanford University announced that they have managed to create supercapacitors from everyday paper using nanotechnology.
