A new safety option for portable data collectors has been introduced by US firm Wilcoxon Research.
The Maryland-based company's latest offering is an optional safety cable connector designed to protect operators of vibration data collection machines.
If more than more than 10 lbs (4.5 kg) of pull force is exerted during a data collection route, the connector will automatically break the sensor away from the data collector.
According to Wilcoxon Research, the connector can then be reattached once the sensor and the cable have been safely retrieved from the monitoring point.
The firm states that its new cable connector is ideal for use in a "harsh industrial environment", as it can function in temperatures ranging from minus 25 degrees C to 85 degrees C.
It will be made available with 12 models of the MaxFlex cables for portable vibration data collection.
Wilcoxon specialises in predictive maintenance products for industrial processes such as accelerometers, velocity sensors, 4-20mA sensors, piezoelectric sensors and vibration transmitters.
