As a result of favourable market conditions, Toshiba has been able to supply its NAND flash memory items at a high average selling price and record positive revenue results, it has been reported.
In the third quarter of this year, Toshiba increased its global NAND flash market share from 29.4 to 34.6 per cent, in terms of the revenue raised, reports iSuppli.
A notable area where the supplier has been successful is in its three-bit-per-cell parts, which is a form of multi-level cell technology often used in consumer storage media.
Michael Yang, senior analyst of memory and storage for iSuppli, highlighted expanded capacity as a key feature of Toshiba's strong performance.
He added: "The company was able to expand its shipments. Furthermore, the company is the leader in production of three-bit-per-cell parts, which have lower manufacturing costs, thus improving profitability."
Last week, the market research firm predicted that the LED market could double between 2009 and 2013.
