A market research firm has predicted that shipments of LED-backlit liquid crystal display (LCD) TVs could grow significantly during 2010.
Displaybank has published a forecast which estimates that the market for LED LCD TVs could grow from 3.1 million units in 2009 to 26 million in the coming year.
It suggested that this could give the type of product 16 per cent of the LCD TV sector, with further growth predicted in years to come.
Andy Yu, vice-president of display research at the company, pointed out that the items feature eco-friendly factors and developments in quality and design as a result of the use of LEDs.
