A new product designed for use in entertainment venues has been developed by Altman Lighting alongside Future Lighting Solutions, which offers 281 trillion colours from an LED system.
There are two light engines involved in the production of this effect, with the Spectra CYC 100 adding "deeper tones and warmer colours" for its wall wash luminaire due to its use of amber LEDs, while the Spectra PAR 100 produces four different beams, according to the manunfacturers.
Both of these devices are currently unique in the market due to their four-channel capabilities, which combine Luxeon Rebel red, green, blue and amber bulbs.
Future Lighting Solutions explained that its involvement was important during the design process and in helping choose the right materials to ensure the efficiency of the product.
Altman revealed that the LEDs in the system could last for more than 50,000 hours, while each luminaire consumes 100 W of power, allowing more fixtures to be run from a single circuit than conventional devices.
Last week, it was announced that the US Department of Energy is making $37 million (£22.6 million) available for research into LED technology.
