Osram Opto Semiconductors has announced the launch of a new advisory website regarding LEDs that the company hopes will open up opportunities for consumers.
Dr Michael Fiebig, head of solid state lighting marketing at the firm, described how intricate lighting creations can be produced using LEDs, even though the technology could still be considered to be "in its infancy".
He suggested that the purpose of the new site, which offers in-depth information, support and tools for consumers, is to offer them a "jump start" in the field.
Dr Fiebig stated: "It is not only the individual components that testify to the quality of a lighting solution but their performance at the application stage."
The public can use the portal to create illumination solutions for indoor and outdoor spaces, with architectural and retail considerations held in mind.
Osram recently announced that its LEDs are set to be used in the new Audi A8 for headlamp functions as well as in-car lighting.
