Tyco Electronics has launched a new type of cost-effective connector for use by fractional horsepower motor manufacturers.
The company claims that the MAG-MATE insulation displacement crimp interconnection system can save companies money as the same product can be used for the termination of both copper and aluminium magnet wires.
Some of the features of the devices are that they have two IDC slots to create four gas-tight points of contact.
They can also terminate two magnet wires of the same size in one terminal, ranging from 34 AWG to 12 AWG for maximum flexibility.
Fabrizio Longo, Tyco Electronics product manager, said: "Our interconnection system allows manufacturers to easily and cost-effectively bridge the transitions many are making from copper to aluminium magnet wires."
The company is a global provider of engineered electronic components and serves both consumer and industrial products, as well as network solutions and systems for telecommunications and energy markets.
