If people want to get the most out of their LED bulbs and ensure they last for as long as they possibly can, one publication has noted that the quality of other components must be taken into consideration.
According to EDN, LEDs have the potential to last for up to 50,000 hours.
However, if the parts surrounding them generate too much heat, the lighting device often fails to last for this long.
Technical editor for the news provider Margery Conner noted: "Proper selection of capacitors and other components, along with thermal management, can help you save your LEDs from an early demise."
She also explained that although not all electronic components are unreliable, it is up to the manufacturers to choose the right equipment and lay it out correctly to ensure longevity of devices.
Speaking at the Strategies in Light event, Bob Steele, director of optoelectronics at Strategies Unlimited, recently stated that LED backlighting technology is leading the growth of the industry.
