One news provider has pointed out that many of the new televisions on offer from Panasonic include LED backlighting technology.
Discussing the electronic firm's global press conference in Munich, Expert Reviews explained that a "bewildering range" of new Viera models were launched.
One of these was a 152-inch ultra-high definition plasma TV, with the equivalent resolution of four full HD sets, which is the largest of its kind in the world.
Other top-end devices included two 3D televisions, measuring 65 in and 50 in, which have LED backlighting to take their power consumption to below 100 W.
At the bottom end of the scale, Panasonic introduced 19-inch models, designed for use in the kitchen and bedroom.
These new products feature SD card slots, while many are WiFi ready and also include two USB ports so that photos, videos and music can be played through the device.
This week, Toshiba also introduced three high-brightness, miniature LEDs that it claims will be useful in a range of industrial, residential and commercial lighting solutions.
