Gartner has confirmed that the combined printer, copier and multifunctional product market in India enjoyed positive growth in the fourth quarter of 2009.
According to the firm, the sector totalled almost 0.7 million units at the end of last year, which represents an increase of 34.7 per cent compared to the same period in 2008.
It is also an 18 per cent improvement on the third quarter of 2009.
Most vendors experienced shipment growth, the organisation continued, with Canon leading the way, followed by Samsung and HP.
Vishal Tripathi, principal research analyst at Gartner, said that the growth came as a result of improved buyer confidence.
"Smaller towns and cities outside of the major metropolitan cities and small and medium businesses were the growth drivers," he stated.
Similarly, Gartner also reported that the Western European PC market grew by four per cent in the final quarter of last year to total 20.2 million units.
