Taiwan's largest LED chip manufacturing firm has placed an order with Ultratech for a special LED lithography system, it has been announced.
The new Sapphire 100 lithography system has been designed and optimised for high-brightness LED (HBLED) manufacturing and offers both advanced technology and economic value.
It is thought that the tool will be available for volume shipments in the second half of the year and according to the Taiwan-based firm, additional systems will be used to support its HBLED capacity expansion plans when the first device has been integrated.
Doug Anberg, Ultratech's vice president of advanced stepper technology, said: "HBLEDs are expected to see strong growth over the next few years as they become increasingly integrated into the products we use in our everyday life."
Meanwhile, Vishay recently launched a new streaming video product demonstration on its website with the hope of aiding its customers in their understanding of how ambient light sensors are used in applications.
