A new resistor has been launched that could help to reduce the manufacturing costs that accompany the placement of a component.
Introduced by Stackpole Electronics, the RAV0252D chip series will serve as an addition to its existing array of convex termination chip resistor products.
The devices can be ordered in quantities of 10,000 on standard seven-inch reels and also come in a variety of resistance values, ranging from three ohms to one meg ohms.
Kory Schroeder, director of marketing for Stackpole, said: "With the continued trend toward downsizing, many customers now realise some of the drawbacks to using smaller and smaller chip resistors, such as much slower placement speeds.
He added that high placement speed is "critical" in high volume applications that make use of like resistor values.
Meanwhile, austriamicrosystems has recently introduced a new LED flash driver that is capable of delivering a 25 per cent higher output current than many existing models.
