LED bulbs could be used to illuminate part of York's Millennium Bridge as part of a new energy efficient drive by the city's council.
Over the past few months, part of the Bar Walls near Lendal Bridge has been brought to life with a range of different coloured lights as part of a pilot project.
Now, it is hoped that a similar trial could take place on Millennium Bridge in an initiative to use energy-efficient lights more creatively, the York press reports.
A spokeswoman from the City of York Council said that there has already been a good response to the Bar Walls project.
"We're looking at evaluating each section of lights to see what is needed and, where possible, replace them with more efficient LEDs or colour changing lights (for festivals)," she added.
The £4.2 million crossing was opened on April 10th 2001 and received the royal seal of approval from the Duke of York in May of the same year.
