A leading California electronics company will showcase a new product to deal with electrostatic discharge from LED lighting applications.
California Micro Devices (CMD) will unveil its LuxGuard range of turnkey solutions at the Designing with LEDs Seminar and Workshop, which takes place at the Santa Clara Convention Center on Wednesday (March 17th).
The LuxGuard is built for "electrostatic discharge protection (ESD) and thermal management" in high powered LED lighting products.
It features a 50 V breakdown voltage specification and two LuxGuard components are on display, the CM1753 which is designed for common cathode configurations and the CM1754 which provides a similar service for common anode configurations.
The LuxGuard's small form factor is said to enable it to be used in all applications, including various HBLED lamp modules.
CMD has specialised in making protection circuits for HBLED applications. Since 2001 it has delivered more than 300 million units to its customers that go beyond the traditional sector.
It supplies illumination, signage, automotive lights as well as residential and commercial customers.
