Following Premier Farnell’s promise to maintain and enhance CadSoft EAGLE software after last year’s acquisition, we are delighted to announce EAGLE software v5.6 has been voted winner of the ‘Engineering Software Product of the Year’ category at the 2010 Elektronik Magazine Awards. The award is even more significant because it is decided by votes from the design engineering readership of the German based magazine. This is the sixth time CadSoft has been honoured by Elektronik readers. The winning selection was made out of 11 entries in the Engineering Software category, in which EAGLE version 5.6 was entered for its new "follow-me router".
CadSoft’s EAGLE software continues to gain global popularity due to its competitive pricing and multiple licensing options. It already includes many features normally found in much more expensive tools such as; autorouter, copper pour, forward and back annotation, electrical and design rule checking, any-angle part placement and scripting to automate routine jobs such as placing card edge fingers and initialising title blocks.
Commenting upon the announcement, Marianne Culver, CadSoft General Manager said: "This is excellent news and a true testament to the quality and value of our unique EAGLE product. Since CadSoft's acquisition by Premier Farnell, we are accelerating our strategy to meet design engineers' needs globally, supporting them with even more sophisticated software and features, as well as a more comprehensive range of entry points."
