The boss of an international electronics company said he expects the price of LED light bulbs to fall due to increased competition amongst manufacturers.
Delta Electronics chief executive Yancey Hai said that the combination of Taiwanese LED manufacturers rapidly increasing production and European and Japanese markets ramping up competition would lead to a decrease.
A report in Digitimes cites Mr Hai as claiming the price will drop sharply to between $10-20 (£6.70-£13.40) from its current value of around $30.
In addition, Delta Electronics will itself increase production at its plant in Dongguan, China, as a result of increase demand in Japan.
Last week, Toshiba announced that it was to end production of incandescent bulbs in order to focus on the LED lighting market.
According to Digitimes, rival Panasonic said it expects LED light bulbs to account for 30 per cent of its revenue within five years.
Delta is one of the leading sources for power management solution across the world with factories across south-east Asia, Europe and Mexico.
