US semiconductor firm Fairchild has won a "Product of the Year" award for its high-power octocoupler.
The award from the EN-Genius Network is in recognition for the design of the FOD8001, a strong industrial fieldbus network that offers low system failure rates as well as low transition error rates and strong reliability.
It features patented Optoplanar packaging technology that offers "best-in-class noise immunity".
In addition, the FOD8001 achieves an isolation rating of 3,750 V (Rms) through an optical light transmission, with 0.5 millimetre minimum physical separation between its primary and secondary side, thus ensuring long-term reliability to its customers.
The California-based company offers semiconductor solutions for a range of industries including the production of mobile devices, lighting applications and power supplies.
Award winners are selected by the editorial staff of the EN-Genius Network over the course of the year. In the case of Fairchild's prized asset, it was valued on its "technical merit, design, innovation and the likelihood of market success".
