One of the world's largest makers of discrete semiconductors and passive components has launched a new channel power MOFSET device that is said to trump previous generations in performance.
Vishay Intertechnology today (April 1st) introduced a 500 V n-channel power MOFSET which the manufacturer claims will have "improved switching speed and losses" compared with its predecessors.
According to Vishay, the SiHF8N5OL-E3's improved reverse recovery will result in better electromagnetic interference immunity as well as being more efficient than older models and can avoid internal body diode burnout.
The Pennsylvania-based company is so confident of its reliability, it avalanche tested the product, which has a peak current handling of 22 A pulsed and 8 A continuous.
It was designed for a range of electronics products including PC power supplies and double-forward topologies.
Samples of the new power MOFSET are available from the semiconductor firm with lead times of eight to ten weeks for orders of higher quantity.
