An American manufacturer has unveiled an LED designed for use in signs on global transport networks.
North Carolina-based firm Cree has created a 5 mm round amber LED component which could make reading road signs far easier for motorists thanks to its new features.
For example, the new high-brightness innovation offers minimum viewing angles of 15 degrees for the C503B-AAS-015 or a 30-degree angle for the C503B-AAS-030, both of which are now available to customers.
According to a company press release, the minimum luminous intensity level of each model is 12,000 mcd for the 15-degree viewing angle and 5,860 mcd for the 30 degree capability.
Global road networks and city streets are already embracing LED technology into their makeup with street lights increasingly opting to ditch incandescent bulbs.
Similarly, cars such as Audi's R8 model have incorporated newer technology which its hoped will be expanded to many of the world's motor vehicles as less-efficient bulbs are made obsolete.
