A US semiconductor solutions provider is to demonstrate its latest developments in gallium nitride (GaN) monolithic microwave integrated circuit technology later this month.
North Carolina-based firm Cree will showcase new amplifiers and switch products to industry figures at the International Microwave Symposium, which runs from May 25th to 27th.
The company says it is pleased with its latest innovations and plans to release them for sale later this year.
Cree's director of radio frequency and microwave products Jim Milligan indicated that the semiconductor firm has been expanding its lines of discrete applications and GaN devices to include higher power amplifiers.
"We believe we can further extend the advantages of GaN for commercial and military systems," he added.
In addition to its power applications and wireless solutions, Cree also produces innovations in LED lighting.
The semiconductor company is also involved in a project to encourage universities in North America and China to incorporate diode-based luminaires to promote energy efficiency.
