Optoelectronics firms in Taiwan, which make LCD panels, managed to achieve consolidated sales revenue totalling more than $3.25 billion (£2.25 billion) month-on-month for April, according to the latest figures.
Data from Witsview Technology revealed an increase of 213.9 per cent on the same stage last year, Taiwan Economic News reports
Of the country's four major panel makers, which supply a number of consumer electronics including laptops and smartphones, the recently merged Chimei Innolux enjoyed the largest revenue increase of 30.1 per cent through April, reaching $1.56 billion.
AU Optoelectronics (AUO) also saw a monthly rise of 1.2 per cent and generated $1.29 billion.
AUO itself was formed as the result of a merger between Acer Display Technology and Unipac Optoelectronics in October 2001.
It currently employs more than 42,000 people and produces TFT-LCD modules, "TV star solutions" that can range in size from 19 inches to 52-inch panels ans solar photovolataic cells, which are more often used in the latest renewable energy technology.
