A Japanese manufacturer has agreed to form a strategic partnership with an Indian firm to jointly explore business opportunities in the LED lighting sector.
Sujana Energy, based in Hyderabad, will link up with Nichia Corporation, to collaborate on trying to bring competitive products to what may become a burgeoning industry in years to come, as global households consider diode-based technology for energy-efficiency.
Y S Chowdary, chairman of Sujana Group - the parent company of the Indian manufacturer - believes renewables are the focus area for its business and suggested that the partnership signified a commitment to making technology affordable to its customers.
Nichia is currently the largest supplier of white LEDs in the world and while it offers many products and innovations that could be adapted to the market in the planet's second most populous country, Sujana research and development may prove advantageous in trying to gain success.
Beyond production of diode-based innovations, Sujana also has interests in steel manufacturing, construction, energy generation and the telecoms industry.
