A global electronics brand has exhibited a new LCD panel which uses quantum dot LED backlights.
LG, which employs 84,000 people working in 112 operations across the world, unveiled the technology that expands the colour gamut by 30 per cent thanks to this latest innovation, Tech-on reports.
It demonstrated its latest LED product at the Society for Information and Display International Symposium, Seminar and Exhibition in Seattle, which finished on Friday (May 28th).
The screen on display to attendees was 3.2 inches in size; its pixel count is 480 by 800.
As the publication noted, the manufacturer did not reveal the materials used in its quantum dot LEDs, nor did it give a date for starting commercial production of these LCD panels.
LG generated global sales in 2008 totalling $44.7 billion (£30.75 billion) and sells a range of consumer electronics products for areas including mobile communications, home entertainment and household appliances.
