A US-based LED manufacturer has announced that it will provide an LED chipset to power two new Samsung consumer appliances.
Luminus Devices PhlatLight SBT-16 LED component will be incorporated into the Korean electronics brand H03 Personal Media Player and its latest Instant Projector.
The H03 is a handheld battery-powered product that allows the consumer to see a range of digital content such as pictures or movies through its internal player or by connecting to an external source such as mobile phone or laptop.
Keith Ward, president and chief executive of Luminus, said that after making LEDs "a reality" in home cinema projectors, the company is delivering the benefits of its diode-based technology to personal appliances.
"Samsung is demonstrating with the H03 that palm size, battery-powered projection appliances can also be bright, making instant projection practical for countless consumer and business applications," he added.
Luminus manufactures solid state lighting, including LED products, at two facilities in Massachusetts.
