Two global LED manufacturers have announced they will forge a partnership that will open up new markets.
Massachusetts-based Luminus Devices will link up with Chinese firm Avnet Electronics Marketing, which will allow the US company to distribute its PhlatLight luminaires to customers across Asia.
Avnet already represents Luminus in the Americas and its subsidiary EBV Elektronik distributes its diode-based products in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Keith Ward, chief executive of the American LED manufacturer, said that demand for the PhlatLight in Asia is "growing expotentially" and praised its new partner's "exceptional" reach and reputation in that part of the world, saying he is delighted the company is involved.
He said that diode-based technology is "totally different" to traditional electronics and because of its broad range of areas and the need for expertise on a number of level, this can be a "barrier to entry".
Luminus states that its corporate philosophy is "rooted in continual innovation and improvement".
