A US firm, which provides semiconductor processing applications, has unveiled what it claims to be the first ever field-portable solution for one-way delay testing.
California-based JDSU claimed its enhancement feature for its T-BERD/MTS-6000A offers measurement accuracy that is ten times greater than most service level agreements currently require for Ethernet Backhaul and mission-critical tools.
Its one-way delay option can analyse and "troubleshoot" any hold ups in network coverage, which it suggested will benefit government and financial services clients who use these systems.
The director of the company's communications test and measurement segment, Mirna Mekic, stated that one-way delay "is a common factor in the degradation of voice, video and data service quality and reliability" and indicated that this development will offer users valuable information.
JDSU employs just fewer than 4,000 staff worldwide and, as well as semiconductor processing applications, it also offers broadband and optical innovation solutions to the communications sector.
