A new range of professional switches from LANCOM could provide the basis needed to support virtualised networks in small to medium-sized businesses.
The company suggests that combining its LANCOM ES 2126P+ switches with its family of routers and access points could allow network virtualisation to be implemented by end-users.
For networks carrying voice or video information, port prioritisation is available to precisely control the bandwidth allocated to different types of traffic.
Backplane throughput of 8.8 Gbps and a gigabit backbone connector help to meet the demands of networks coping with high levels of traffic at any one time.
"This switch is LANCOM's response to the needs of small to larger-scale networks with high demands on security, management and quality of service," the company says.
Networking products from LANCOM are designed for a number of specific applications, including infrastructure for wireless communications, voice over internet protocol traffic and virtual private networking.
