Demand for fibre optic networking equipment in the Asia Pacific market could see light sensors grow in popularity in the region.
Infonetics reports that Asia Pacific saw strong sequential growth in optical network hardware sales in the second quarter.
The global market was also strong in the three-month period, with growth worldwide offset only by flat sales in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
In Asia Pacific, however, the second quarter saw an increase of more than eight per cent compared with the previous three months, which could have included greater numbers of the light sensors necessary to process optical data.
"Optical network equipment spending was up in North America, Asia Pacific and Central and Latin America in the second quarter," comments Andrew Schmitt, directing analyst for optical research at Infonetics.
