An expert has commented on the astounding rate of progress that has occurred in graphics semiconductors over the past 12 months.
Bill Dally is chief scientist at NVIDIA, one of the leading brands in the development of graphics semiconductors for use in PC video cards.
His comments come ahead of the upcoming NVIDIA Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) Technology Conference on September 22nd in San Jose, California.
The conference is due to focus on the "seismic shifts" that have taken place in the industry in recent months.
Mr Dally comments: "Conference attendees will be astounded by the tremendous advances in GPU computing."
He adds that NVIDIA is pleased by the line-up of experts due to share their own insights in keynote speeches at the event.
Among them are Stanford University robotics pioneer Sebastian Thrun and Klaus Schulten, one of the world's foremost computational biologists who works at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
