A German Mocvd maker has received a multiple tool order from Chinese company Sanan Optoelectronics, to help in its aim to increase production of high-brightness (HB) LEDs.
Aixtron, which is based in the town of Herzogenrath, received a request for a number of its Crius applications at the end of 2009 and its local support team has successfully commissioned new HB GaN LED growth reactors at Sanan's new purpose-built factory in Tianjin during the first half of this year.
Simon Lin, chief executive at the Chinese optoelectronics manufacturer, said it is looking for world-class tools to as it aims to expand capacity and it believes that Aixtron's "excellent reputation" convinced the organisation that it was the right choice.
He added: "Working closely with Aixtron's support team we will be able to quickly ramp up HB GaN LED epiwafer production in response to the strong market demand."
The German-based firm also creates components to be incorporated in applications used for advertising displays, signals and lighting technology.
