Supply chain efficiency and low costs are the most important things for firms, including optoelectronics organisations, producing parts for new flat-panel TVs, it has been suggested.
According to Hon Hai vice-president for the Greater China market David Hsieh, with shipments of the appliances totalling 180 million during 2010 and set to reach 228 million units in three years' time, the LCD TV is now a commodity.
Furthermore, it is because this type of product has achieved such a status that supply chains are being tightened and the publication noted that Hon Hai has created a "vertically integrated" production process as a result of the three-way merger of Innolux, Chi Mei Optoelectronics and TPO Displays.
Meanwhile, Transtouch, another Taiwanese firm producing capacitive touch panels, revealed that it expects to start shipping seven-inch versions to clients in France and Japan by August, Digitimes reported.
The company posted revenues for May of NT92.6 million (£1.89 million), a rise of more than 98 per cent on the same stage last year.
