The District of North Vancouver is preparing for a demonstration of how LEDs can be retrofitted into properties to help improve their energy profile.
Mantra Venture Group subsidiary Climate ESCO is demonstrating the technology, fitting LEDs to the Northlands Golf and Country Club.
It is hoped that security, safety and visibility will be improved at the venue, along with the expected environmental and financial benefits associated with the switch to using LEDs rather than fluorescent or incandescent bulbs.
According to Mantra, the efficiency of LEDs for interior lighting applications is 80 per cent higher than the alternatives.
Larry Kristof, chief executive officer of the company, says: "The US has estimated that full implementation of LED in place of existing incandescent and fluorescent lighting has the potential to reduce demand by 26 per cent."
Mantra aims to span the gap between investment and innovation, incubating technologies that develop cleaner ways of working and solutions for renewable energy.
