Hong Kong-based ZOTAC International has announced a landmark in the progression of optoelectronics with the first mini-PC to come equipped as standard with a Blu-ray drive.
The ZOTAC ZBOX line is, according to the company, the first range of mini-PCs to have an integrated Blu-ray slot-load drive.
Carsten Berger, marketing director for ZOTAC International, says: "The ZOTAC ZBOX Blu-ray series is more than just a system for playing games and watching movies.
"The ZOTAC ZBOX Blu-ray series is the ultimate multimedia hub for all your entertainment needs."
He adds that this allows a number of conventional optoelectronics devices to potentially be replaced by the mini-PC.
The drive itself can also play back DVD and CD media and can write to all common CD and DVD recordable formats.
ZOTAC International was founded in 2006 and says it has since grown to be one of the world's largest producers of motherboards and NVIDIA VGA graphics cards.
