Some of the most demanding lighting applications can now be serviced using LED lights, says Nebraska-based Strong Entertainment Lighting.
The Omaha firm is working with Luminus Devices, developer of PhlatLight LED lights, on devices up to the task of lighting skyscrapers and monuments.
In collaboration, the firms have created Solutions 650 and 900, lamps with 50,000-hour lifespans and total output measuring some 20,000 lumens.
"Luminus Devices and Strong are developing next-generation narrow-beam LED-based light fixtures with very long throws previously achievable only by using the highest-performance lamps," says Strong Entertainment Lighting vice-president of lighting Paul Rabinovitz.
The newly developed spotlights are intended for use in illuminating tall or expansive structures, including skyscrapers, antennae, art installations and amphitheatres.
Meanwhile, Don McDaniel, director of global entertainment for Luminus Devices, explains the role of the PhlatLight LED components in the Solutions 650 and 900 lamps.
He says that big-chip LEDs such as the PhlatLight series are able to match the longevity of the luminaire in which they are fitted, removing the need to replace them over time.
