A range of wireless communications options are likely to be available to PSP2 users depending on their needs, according to GameSpot UK editor Guy Cocker.
He explains that the first views of Sony's upcoming handheld console indicate Wi-Fi wireless communications will be a standard feature of the device.
But those who desire extra portability will be able to pay more in order to have support for the 3G network which carries mobile telephone communications.
"If you look at the iPhone and what Apple has done with the games centre, that's been a real development for Apple at the end of 2010," Mr Cocker says.
Meanwhile, although the PSP2 does not include 3D graphics, it has a number of sophisticated sensors for more intuitive gameplay.
Among them is a particularly high-resolution liquid crystal display with inbuilt touchscreen sensors, Mr Cocker notes.
"It's a pretty advanced piece of kit," he adds - in spite of the lack of 3D graphics.
