Businesses in the 50th US state, Hawaii, are gaining in a number of ways from the use of LED lights.
The technology offers a number of benefits to commercial users, including greater longevity between replacing bulbs and lower energy consumption during use.
High Tech Lights, one specialist manufacturer of LED lights, is located in Honolulu and says the island region has already made significant use of its products.
"Our environmentally friendly products have already made an impact in our community with the help of our customers and clients," the company says.
Users of the technology include Shokudo, a Japanese restaurant owned and operated by Hideyuki Sakurai.
The owner says the eatery aims to be the "most respected restaurant in the state of Hawaii".
Customers have welcomed its switch to LED lights in order to achieve this - with the warm white luminaires surprising some people who expected LEDs to produce a bluer tone.
