Locations that, due to their remoteness or hazardous surroundings, are hard to access could soon benefit from new LED lights launched by Acuity Brands.
The company claims that its Holophane Petrolux LED lights are suited to some of the harshest conditions, without suffering a shortening of lifespan or reduced performance.
For instance, at an ambient temperature of 55 degrees C, the bulbs can operate for as long as 70,000 hours with minimal need for servicing.
As well as the obvious benefit to continued operation that this represents, the company suggests that the operating costs associated with maintaining the luminaires will be lower than with counterparts not designed to resist such conditions.
Companies concerned about their environmental impact may also welcome the ecological profile of the luminaires.
The LED lights can, for instance, be dimmed if their full output is unnecessarily bright for a particular area, meaning their energy consumption also falls.
