Canadian chipmaker Zarlink Semiconductor Inc has announced that its president and chief executive Kirk Mandy will be replaced by Gary Tanner in May.
In a statement, it was confirmed that Mr Mandy will continue to serve as a consultant to the company.
Mr Tanner joined Zarlink in 2007 and was most recently the company's chief operating officer.
Earlier this week, Samsung Semiconductor Europe appointed EML as the tech PR agency to help promote near-field comms (NFC) technology.
The electronics giant entered the NFC market in December 2010, when it began manufacturing a component that allows people to use mobile phones to pay for goods by touching a reader in-store.
The new technology will reduce the need for cash and credit cards, according to the firm.
PR shop EML will help boost take-up of the new technology among European customers.
