ON Semiconductor intends to spend $30 million to upgrade and expand its Oregon computer chip factory.
Indeed, the firm plans to add up to 70 jobs to its operation in Gresham.
According to a report appearing in the Oregonian, the expansion is part of a $250 million investment by the Arizona company to improve its manufacturing capabilities.
Earlier this week, ON Semiconductor completed the acquisition of California-based Cypress Semiconductor Corp's image-sensor business.
Phoenix-based ON has therefore become one of the top ten image-sensor suppliers worldwide, AZ Central reports.
The companies first announced the all-cash deal at the end of January.
ON Semiconductor also recently announced the appointment of Hans Stork to the position of chief technology officer and senior vice president.
The supplier of high performance silicon solutions for energy efficient electronics said that it will focus its organic research and development and technical innovation to further expand the company's energy efficient product and solution offerings in key market segments.
