Wireless communication device manufacturers may be interested in news that LG Electronics has announced the adoption of the world's first three dimensional AR browser on the soon-to-be-released LG Optimus 3D smartphone.
Using the Wikitude 3D browser, consumers can enjoy better interaction and engagement with real-time user environments, the Wireless Federation has reported.
3D AR shows places, landmarks and objects in 3D, thereby making them easier to distinguish.
Added to this, the browser allows users to discover details about their surroundings as well as access related Wikipedia articles and Twitter information.
Dr Jong-seok Park, CEO and president of LG Mobile Communications Company, observed that AR technology has been praised for its potential to replace the 'abstract' realities of standard mobile browsers with 'actual' reality streamed through the camera of the wireless communications device.
Elsewhere, Research In Motion has unveiled two new BlackBerry Bold smartphones.
The new devices, the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and the 9930, feature a design that integrates a BlackBerry keyboard with a high resolution and capacitive touch screen.
