An IT expert has claimed that cyber criminals are increasingly aiming their attacks at specific organisations and individuals.
Con Mallon, director of regional product marketing at the online protection brand, observed: "The bad guys are going after more targeted-type activity."
This "can apply to a suit at a high level company and also it can apply to you as an individual", according to Mr Mallon.
"We all really now need to be very aware of that and ever more sensitive to people coming after us," he said.
Mr Mallon highlighted Hydraq attacks and the Stuxnet outbreak of 2010, which saw cyber criminals aim for individuals in IT companies and critical infrastructure respectively, as examples of targeted attacks.
A group of hackers claimed last week that it is planning another wave of cyber attacks against Sony in retaliation for its handling of the PlayStation Network breach.
Sony has already apologised for the error it made.
